Check out what BRIC Arts had to say about us in their recent Blog!

New Partnership: Spring Creek Community School

This has been a stellar year for BRIC’s Contemporary Art Education program, with many schools continuing their long-term partnerships and multiple new partnerships forged!  Spring Creek Community School in the East New York neighborhood of Brooklyn is one such new relationship. Housed in a brand new building and first opened in 2012, Spring Creek strives to integrate arts and technology into its regular classes. This approach is lead by the school’s principal, Christina Koza, who believes in the power of art and its ability to aid in academic learning.

For BRIC’s in-school residency, Teaching Artist Angela Earley collaborated with Art and English Language Arts teacher Michael Sill, to make the school's "core values," a more prominent and visible part of the school’s décor by creating a relief-printed tree banner with students. These core values – such as passion, curiosity, and integrity – were selected by a team of Spring Creek staff members. The work of art that was created has a double meaning, as the school’s logo is also a tree.

The finished product will be included in The 25th Annual BRIC Contemporary Art Exhibition.
