Student Speeches

Taniah - 6th Grade

Good Afternoon.  My names is Taniah Johnson and I am in the 6th grade.  I want to start off by saying what I am thankful for.  I am thankful for my family and friends and being able to spend the holidays with them.  I am thankful for waking up this morning.  I would also like to say make sure to keep love in your heart,  integrity in your mind and empathy close by.  I wish everyone a happy New Year and a Merry Christmas.

Eessence - 7th Grade

Teamwork, integrity, openness, empathy, love, curiosity, passion, and justice. These words are the embodiment of what this school strives to achive. I consider the community here my family.

Teamwork plays a big role in what makes this school a community, SCCS offers a variety of clubs where students can work with fellow classmates as a team. These clubs teach us how to support each other and be open to new ideas both of which or two important skills that are necessary to succeed in life. Without these clubs we wouldn't posses the qualities a well funded student needs,

Next are love and passion. When you love something you are passionate about it. For example the drama club is very passionate about acting and entertaining the SCCS community, I love acting and performing but unfortunately some kids don't get the same opportunity to perform and embrace their talent because most NYC public schools cut performing art from their curriculum,

Our teachers at SCCS inspire us to be true to ourselves and develop good morals. They teach us to respect ourselves and each other. Someone with integrity is a person who is honorable, respectable and true to every one of our teachers,

Teamwork, integrity, openness, empathy, love, curiosity, passion, and justice. These are the values I learned at SCCS,

Naffisat - 8th Grade

Good afternoon Staff and Students,

I am grateful to be an 8th Grade Student at SCCS. Being here for the past 3 years has increased my skills in teamwork, integrity, showing love and empathy, having passion, being open to other people, and upholding justice. This year plan to be successful and accomplished. Through this, my teachers and friends have guided me along. Over this winter break I want all of you to think about how accomplished you want to be in the future it's time for us to choose what route we want to take in life, and though it may be difficult, I think we are uр for the challenge. Thank you and Happy Holiday

Kalyn - 9th Grade

Dear SCCS students and staff,

Today is a Wonderful day to celebrate the holidays, as we all come together as one to enjoy potluck with food and fun. The holidays is a time to come together and talk to friends and family about life and be grateful for the things we have. Personally am grateful for my friends, my family, and my teachers, for their advice and tender love and care. Today when you go home I advise you to tell your family you really love them, give them a big hug and kiss and let them know that you appreciate everything they do for you.

Now stop and look around you... What do you see?

I see the joyful faces of students glad to take a day off of classwork. I also see joyful teachers admiring their students and getting to know them better. I see the joyful faces of a community that is always open to others, that is curious, loving, and focused on helping students succeed . WE ARE THE FUTURE llllllllllll

So as Brian Andreas said, there are things you

do because they feel right and they may make no sense and they may make no money and it may be the real reason we are here: to love each other and to eat each

other's cooking and say it was good.
